Kilcullen goes into depth describing how the tactics and nature of modern warfare has gone from state on state to proxy wars, from symmetric to asymmetric, and from rural landscapes to urban. He uses recent (near 2010) attacks and situations as examples which I think resonate with the CA community. Without saying so, he advocates for understanding the middle space of the civilian populace & human domain that is the Civil Affairs core.
