4th Civil Affairs Group, Det L update, for August 2009, finds each of the Teams spread throughout the entire Helmand River Valley for Operation Khanjar while supporting the II Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Regimental Combat Team Three, Battalions 2/3, 2/8, 1/5 and 3/11. The civil affairs teams are also working with the Helmand Provincial Reconstruction Team, Afghan National and District Government Representatives, as well as representatives of the United States Department of State, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Stability Advisors. |

Currently, there are projects underway to refurbish a District Office of the Afghan National Government and to complete a Governmental Center in the district of Nawa. |

Since the Teams are situated near villages throughout the Helmand River Valley, they have truly reaped the benefit of their proximity to have frequent contact with villagers. Which, in-turn, is the strongest contributor to the break- through relationships that the CA teams are continuing to form strong foundations for our in-bound Unit to pick-up and continue this great work. |
